Spring positions

Seedling Digger

Work Periods: March-April, October-November

Seedling Diggers work outside pulling seedlings from the ground after they have been dug. They box them up and take them to the grading room to be processed by the Grading Crew. We recommend rain gear and a spare change of clothes as the weather can be unpredictable this time of year. This job is great if you like working outdoors and don't mind getting a little dirty. Seedling Grader

Work Periods: March-April, October-November

Seedling Graders work in our grading room measuring and sorting  seedlings for quality and height. Once the seedlings have been sorted they are boxed and stored in the coolers until they are shipped. The grading room is not heated as we are dealing with live plants so warm clothing is recommended. Aprons and latex gloves are provided to help keep clean. This is a great job if you enjoy learning about plants and don't mind working indoors.  Click on a photo below to see this job in action!


Loading Crew

Work Periods: March-May

Loading Crew Workers are responsible for organizing Balled & Burlaped trees in the field and loading them on to the semi's that transport the trees to our customers. This job takes place outdoors in all weather conditions so rain gear is recommended. You must be able to do heavy lifting and loading as some of the duties involve lifting and carrying balled and burlaped trees. Specimen Digger

Work Periods: March-May

Specimen Diggers are responsible for digging Balled & Burlaped trees in the field.  This is a labor intense job that takes place outdoors in all weather conditions. You must be able to do heavy lifting  and be able to work with a shovel.  Specimen diggers are paid by each specimen plant dug.  Housing is provided for those traveling from out of state, and transprotation is provided to and from the field.  Positions are limited and preference is given to those with experience digging. Spring Break Work Opportunity

Work Period: March-April

Spring Break is a great opportunity for both High School & College students to make some extra $$.  As the start of our Harvest Season varies due to weather conditions, work is available to students as we have needs.  Positions available to students include Seedling Digger, Seedling Grader, along with any other miscellaneous work like tying tree tops or helping on our Loading & Staging Crews.  Our minimum hiring age is 16 but we will consider applicants age 14 and up.  Work hours for students are the same as our normal Spring Harvest hours, with the exception that 14 & 15 year olds can only work 9 hour days. Turn in an application early as we normally have limited work available!

 


Late Spring Work

Work Period: Late April - May

Our Late Spring work consists of Planting, Tree Straightening, Pruning, Loading & other misc work as needed.  Work is outdoors in all weather conditions.  Warm clothing, boots, & rain gear are recomended.  Work hours will be 6am to 2:30pm Monday-Friday, With some 10 hour days and Saturday work as needed.  Click on a photo below to see these jobs in action!

 

Summer Positions

Weeder

Work Periods: June-August

Weeders work outside pulling weeds from our seedling and transplant fields.  Weeding requires alot of bending and kneeling.  It is recommended that you keep you body covered or have sun block to avoid sunburn. Pruner

Work Periods: June-August

Pruners work outside pruning both Conifer & Deciduous plants.  Pruning requires alot of standing and bending, and the ability to make informed decisions.  It is recommended that you keep you body covered or have sun block to avoid sunburn. Waterer

Work Periods: May-September

Waterers irrigate our seedling crops, first helping to establish our new plantings then irrigating our seedlings to promote healthy plants.  Our seedling crops are irrigated with a set poly pipe system on timers.  Watering takes place 7 days a week and from dawn to dusk.  Thsi job requires long hours and weekend work, and an individual who can stay on task while working alone.  When not schedled to water you will fall in with the weeding crew.  If you want alot of hours this is the job for you! Irrigation

Work Periods: May-September

Our irrigation crew is responsible for setting up our irrigation system in the spring and running aluminium handline throughout the summer.  They make repairs as needed.  This job also entails long hours and weekend work. Click on a photo below to see this job in action!


Spray Crew

Work Periods: June-September

Our spray crew is responsible for applying both pesticides and herbicides to keep our crops bug free and limit weed activity for better plant growth.  Click on a photo below to see this job in action!
